WOLF Watch Winders: FAQs

Why choose a WOLF watch winder?

  • Accurate rotation counts – our high end watch winders are made with precise technology that counts Turns per Day that means every rotation of your watch is tracked, while some other watch winders simply estimate the rotations your watch requires each day using time.
  • Directional options – our watch winders provide options for clockwise, anti-clockwise, and bi-directional rotations. They also ensure your timepiece returns to the exact position you chose when placing it in the winder.
  • Lock-in Dynamic Cuff – each watch winder comes with lock-in dynamic cuffs, adjustable to three wrist sizes, which ensure a snug fit when locked in the winder and an uninterrupted, comfortable winding cycle for your timepiece.
  • Luxury designs – each design is handmade and uniquely curated for style and functionality. From recycled and plant-based materials to cork, our materials are hand-picked to make sure your watches are kept fully wound in style.

WOLF offer a variety of watch winders to meet every need, ranging from the world’s smallest travel watch winder to watch winder cabinets capable of winding 12 or 16 watches at the same time.

Do I need a watch winder?

Yes, if you own one or more watches, you can use a watch winder to keep them running when they’re not being worn. It removes the need to reset the time when you want to wear it, and helps prevent watch functions, such as dates and moon phases, falling out of synchronisation.

How do watch winders work?

Our watch winders are designed to rotate your watch intermittently, with winding and sleep phases which mimic the motion of your wrist. This prevents the watch from stopping and requiring manual resetting before use.

With a WOLF automatic watch winder, you can provide fully customisable settings for delayed starts, directional preferences and turns per day (TPD) rates. Thanks to our innovative technology, every rotation is counted, so you never have to worry about over or under-winding your timepiece again.

How many Turns per Day does my watch need?

Each watch model is unique and requires a specific number of rotations per day to remain fully wound. At WOLF, we have created a watch winding specification database collating all the guidelines from major brands, meaning you can easily find the optimum turns per day and turn direction for each individual timepiece. If you can’t find your watch model, simply email [email protected] and we’ll add it to the database.

Can all automatic watches be wound in your watch winders?

WOLF watch winders are designed to hold automatic watches and are safe for all luxury watch brands, including Rolex, Cartier, Breitling, and more. Manual wind watches and quartz watches are not suitable to be placed in our watch winders but can be kept safe in one of our WOLF watch boxes.

Can a winder over-wind my watch?

No, our WOLF watch winders will not over-wind your watch as our innovative technology not only counts a precise number of rotations according to your selected settings but also allows the watch to rest in cycles to mimic a human, ensuring the mainspring never reaches damaging tension. If you have been wearing your watch, simply set the winder to perform a delayed start to allow the watch to wind down before the new winding cycle begins.
